Committees

Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee oversees creating a welcoming and seasonally inspired theme for each meeting.  With an environment that is artistically creative, along with scrumptious and delectable bites, they make each event something to remember. They organize simple suppers, Lenten Friday meals, and social gatherings for both the beginning and ending of the Society’s year. They work with members who volunteer to make delicious desserts for the Society meetings and oversee the Café at our Summer and Christmas Fairs.  Hospitality Chairs: Mary Donahue and Gerry Zeich

Outreach Committee

This Outreach Committee works to “reach out” to members of the Society, members of the church and members of our community, through various spiritual, ecumenical and charitable endeavors.

Its activities are only limited by the energy and imagination of its members and those willing to help.  The possibilities are endless, and we encourage anyone interested to come to one of our general meetings and hear the activities underway. We are excited and look forward to expanding our reach with our members, church, and our community. In addition, the Outreach Committee also oversees the St. Pius X Women’s Society Funeral Honor Guard which is available to all current and former members of the Society and Guild members upon their deaths. Outreach Chairs: Jacquie Christensen and Mary Price

Programs Committee

The Programs Committee arranges topics of interest and speakers for the Society’s monthly meetings. They offer fun activities, entertainment, and education in a variety of forms.  In addition, they organize special events for members and non-members throughout the year such as an afternoon painting class, a one-woman historical show and the member’s holiday lunch. Programs Committee Chairs: Kate Plummer and Judi Splaine

Publicity Committee

The Publicity Committee is the communications network of the Women’s Society. They are responsible for information appearing in the weekly parish bulletins and newsflashes throughout the year to society members. They also manage all media placement and creation of marketing materials for the Christmas and Summer Fairs. Publicity Committee Chairs: Betty Barsch and Annette Fiscina

Ways and Means Committee

The Ways & Means Committee oversees the fund-raising activities of the Society which include our two major projects: our Summer and Christmas Fairs.  This committee also works hand in hand with our Knitters/Crocheters/Crafters Group who provide items to sell at the fairs, in addition to making or providing items such as scarves, hats, gloves, blankets, coats, prayer shawls, etc.  for many other church and charitable causes. Ways and Means Committee Chairs: Marguerite Ruel

Groups

Knitters/Crocheters/Crafters (Joyful Hands) Mission Statement

Women, from both St. Pius X Church as well as from outside our parish, come together to make items for charitable causes and the Society Summer Fair and Christmas Fair.

They meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Religious Ed Center from 9:00AM to Noon.

Recent groups that were the recipients of the work of these joyful hands were local veteran services, area nursing homes, homeless shelters, hospital NIC units, and animal rescue centers.

New members are welcome anytime. Stop in and visit from September through the July summer fair or contact Marguerite Ruel at mruel1@verizon.net for more information.
