Mental Health and Wellness Ministry

Mission

To provide lay support, education, and awareness to our parish and community on issues related to mental health. We seek to break down social stigma surrounding mental health challenges, provide information, local resources, educational and spiritual support

Vision

The St. Pius X Mental Health and Wellness Ministry is committed to developing a parish community that is aware of, and sensitive to, the varying social, emotional and mental health challenges that many of our families and friends experience in the course of life.

“To be kind is more important than to be right
Many times what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks
but a special heart that listens”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald

What is Mental Health?

Mental health is a state of well-being in which a person realizes one’s abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to contribute to society.

What is a Mental Health Challenge?

Mental health challenges occur when one has a major change in the way a person feels, thinks, or behaves. These challenges involve worsening signs or symptoms that may place a person in crisis and interfere with daily life. A formal diagnosis is not required for someone to experience a mental health challenge.
