Centering

Centering Prayer/ Lectio Divina

When you pray, go into your chamber and bolt the door, and there pray to your Father in secret. And your Father in secret will reward you. Mt 6:6

centeringThis Gospel passage makes unmistakable the need for all of us to experience silence and solitude in our lives if we are to pray well, if we are to grow.

Centering Prayer is a meditation practice which helps us to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and leads us to a deeper relationship with God and one another.
Lectio Divina is a meditative way of reading sacred scripture to gain a better understanding of the meaning of the written word.

The Centering Prayer Group meets from 7:15 – 8:45 pm on Thursday evenings in the Parish Library in the Religious Education Building. We invite you to join us in 20 minutes of meditation followed by a meditative reading of the gospel to be read at Mass on the following Sunday. Our group is associated with Contemplative Outreach and we have the benefit of joining together for Centering Prayer retreats.

Oh God, we ask you, teach us how to live our ordinary lives with extraordinary love.
